    TWO-STEPPED SAND STONE BASE SURMOUNTED BY SQUARE PLINTH, PEDESTAL AND METAL WINGED ANGEL OF PEACE. INSCRIPTION ON CAST METAL PLAQUES ATTACHED TO THE SIDES OF THE PEDESTAL. ADDITIONAL PLAQUE FOR WW2 PLACED AT THE FOOT OF THE 6 O'CLOCK FACE. STEPS LEADING UP TO IT AND TOP IS ENCLOSED BY METAL RAILINGS FIGURE OF PEACE HOLDS A WREATH IN HER HANDS; LAUREL GARLAND CARVED AROUND THE TOP OF THE PLINTH

    • ALNWICK AND COUNTY GAZETTE 31 July 1920 (debate on the form the memorial should take), 27 November 1920 ( approval of the site and that all names from the Borough are to be included, 25 November 1922 (several hundred pounds needed)
    • Illustrated Chronicle 12 November 1923 reports the unveiling, with images
    • Northern Echo 12 November 1923 reports the unveiling
    • THE JOURNAL, 9 October 1995 reports proposals for commemoratiom of post 1945 names
    • Berwick Advertiser 31 May 1945 was a 'Victory Souvenir Issue'. On pages 7 and 8 the photographs of 31 who had died, and 32 who were wounded or prisoners of war were published, together with their manner of death, place of death and date of death, relationship and home address.
