Description: Marble tablet, set into the wall. Family crest in colour at top centre above the incised commemoration which is in black.
Inscription: "NOT AS I WILL BUT AS THOU WILT"/ IN LOVING MEMORY OF/ COMMANDER HENRY CECIL CARR, ROYAL NAVY/ FOURTH SON OF THE LATE JOHN CARR OF ROSEWORTH, NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE/ BORN AUGUST 28TH 1872./ AS A MIDSHIPMAN IN THE FLAGSHIP "BOADICEA" HE SERVED IN 1890 IN THE NAVAL BRIGADE UNDER THE/ COMMAND OF VICE-ADMIRAL THE HON SIR E. R. FREEMANTLE, COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF EAST INDIES FOR THE/ PUNITIVE EXPEDITION AGAINST THE SULTAN OF VITU AND RECEIVED THE AFRICA MEDAL VITU WITH CLASP/ ON MARCH 11TH 1915 HE GAVE HIS LIFE FOR HIS COUNTRY/ WHILST IN COMMAND OF H.M.S. "BAYANO" WHICH WAS TORPEDOED OF THE FIRTH OF CLYDE/ WITH THE LOSS OF 200 LIVES./ THIS TABLET WAS ERECTED BY HIS WIFE
