    • A Service of Thanksgiving was held on 1/12/1946 at Newcastle Cathedral for members of Newcastle Upon Tyne City Police who served and died in the Second World War. The Service sheet included a Roll of Honour, listing the Force's officers who had died, viz: (Regular Police) John Thomas Anderson, Victor Hibbert Dickson, Bernard Stanley Winskill Elliott, Henry Crellin Fiddes, James Hindmarsh, Robert Sweet Marriott, Harvey Johnston Middleton, Alfred Joseph Railton, John George Robinson, James Henry Robson and John Arthur William Smith. (Special Constables) Arthur Collins Davie, Angus Murray McCracken, Norman Melling, Slavoj John Onsorge and Nichol Weatherston. N.B. The memorial plaque itself listed only the 11 Regular Officers who died; it omitted the names of the 5 Special Constables who also died.
