The memorial grounds were fashioned by Lord Treowen (Ifor Herbert) in memory of his son Eilydr and the parishioners who fell in the War. Treowen was the grandson of Lady Llanover, sat as MP until resigning on his son's death (1917) and later played a large part in ensuring the Newport Civic Memorial included a Welsh inscription.
    Maintenance History
Memorial and grounds are regularly maintained. Top lines of inscriptions slightly faded.
