Description: SMALL RINGED CROSS CROWNING A COLUMN RAISED ON AN OBLONG PEDESTAL SET ON TWO SHALLOW STEPS. THE UPPER PART OF THE COLUMN IS DECORATED WITH ELABORATE FLORAL RELIEF CARVING, IN A BAND ROUND THE NECK AND IN THE FRAMING OF THREE DEDICATORY INSCRIPTIONS. WWI NAMES ON BRONZE PLAQUES ON THE PEDESTAL, AND WW2 NAMES ON BRONZE PLAQUES ON THE SHALLOW UPPER STEP.
Inscription: ON COLUMM IN RAISED ROMAN CAPS, SET WITHIN CARVED FLORAL FRAMES: 6 O'CLOCK - TO / OUR / GLORIOUS / DEAD / 1914-1918 9 O'CLOCK - THEY / REST/ IN/ GODS/ LOVE/ 3 O'CLOCK - THEIR / NAMES / LIVETH / FOR / EVERMORE FRONT, LEFT AND RIGHT FACES OF PEDESTAL [WW1 NAMES] FRONT FACE OF UPPER STEP: IN MEMORY OF THE MEN WHO GAVE / THEIR LIVES IN THE WORLD WAR / 1939-1945 / [42 NAMES ON FRONT, LEFT AND RIGHT FACES OF UPPER STEP] FRONT FACE OF PLATFORM: ERECTED BY THE PEOPLE OF OADBY / 1921
