    Description
    LIFE SIZE BRONZE FIGURE OF A YOUNG OFFICER IN UNIFORM AND HELMET, PARTIALLY TURNING ROUND, HE APPEARS TO BE BECKONING HIS MEN ON. SET ON A PORTLAND STONE PEDESTAL, QUATERE-FOIL IN PLAN AND STANDING ON THREE MOULDED STONE STEPS. THE FRONT AND BACK FACES OF THE PEDESTAL ARE CURVED ON PLAN, THE FRONT FACE HAS A CARTOUCHE INSCRIPTION TABLET OF LATE RENAISSANCE CHARACTER, WITH THE NOTTINGHAM COAT OF ARMS AT THE HEAD OF THE SHIELD AND THE MOTTO AND CREST OF THE SCHOOL AT THE FOOT. FURTHER INSCRIPTION ON REVERSE FACE. WW1 NAMES ON BRONZE PANELS ON THE SIDE OF THE PEDESTAL: ADDITIONAL WW1 NAMES AND ALL WW2 NAMES ON TWO PANELS ON THE REVERSE.

    FRONT FACE: TO THE GLORY OF GOD/ IN LASTING AND GRATEFUL MEMORY/ OF THOSE FORMER MEMBERS/ OF THIS SCHOOL/ WHO BY THE SACRIFICE OF THEIR LIVES/ FOR THE CAUSE OF THEIR COUNTRY/ IN THE GREAT WAR 1914-1918/ AND THE SECOND WORLD WAR 1939-1945/ ENNOBLED THE TRADITIONS/ WHICH THEY HAD HERE RECEIVED. REVERSE FACE: GOD GAVE THEM A GREAT DUTY TO DO, AND THEY DID IT./ TE DEUM LAUDAMUS.
