    Maintenance History
From 1920 to 1967 (when the branch was disbanded), the memorial was maintained by Lowca British Legion. Thenceforth it was maintained on a fairly informal basis by Lowca Parish Council until closure of the Methodist Chapel and its subsequent move-see elsewhere on this report. It was relettered by a villager in 1983 at a cost of £55 and again in 1990 by Stalkers of Whitehaven at a cost of £198.66 The removal of the memorial from the Chapel was undertaken by Beatties of Carlisle at a cost of £4219.23, of which £1,500 was covered by a grant from War Memorials Trust, the balance being paid by the Parish Council.
