Description: A marine propellor, plaque and wooden board, all mounted on an exterior wall on the side of a Defence School of Marine Engineering building. At the top is a three-bladed marine propellor, mounted onto a plain metal backboard. Backboard is painted black. In the middle is a metal plaque in a wood frame with HMS Sultan badge in centre, surrounded by the commemoration: the inscription and badge are in relief. At the bottom is a wooden backboard carrying three, engraved brass plaques.
Inscription: Plaque in middle: THE MARINE ENGINEERING MECHANICS'/ MEMORIAL/ IN MEMORY OF/ ALL "STOKERS"/ WHO HAVE/ PROUDLY/ SERVED/ ONBOARD SHIPS/ AND/ SUBMARINES/ OF THE/ ROYAL NAVY/ 1821 – PRESENT DAY Brass plaque 1 at bottom: In memory of our shipmates/ [Names]/ who died in a road accident 10 May 1990 Brass plaque 2 at bottom: In memory of/ [Name]/ 1.3.64 - 27.3.87/ That's All Folks! Brass plaque 3 at bottom: In memory of/ [Name]/ who sadly passed away on/ 12 November 2002/ 22 Jan 84 - 12 Nov 02/ A friend to many/ A shipmate to us all
