IN MEMORY OF TWO SOLDIERS
On a strip of land near the crest of Dunstable Downs, a monument is being completed to commemorate the purchase of an area of land which is being vested in the National Trust. The memorial, in the form of an obelisk, has already been erected, but the inscription is not yet complete.
It will record that the land has been bought in memory of two soldier brothers who died during the war. Sunday was the anniversary of the day on which one was killed.
The land was bequeathed to the National Trust by Mr. W. A. Robertson in memory of his brothers — Capt. Norman Cairns Robertson, of the 2nd Battn., Hampshire Regt, who died at Hanover on June 20, 1917. and Second Lieut. Laurance Grant Robertson, of the 2nd Battn. King's Own Scottish Borderers, who was killed in action in or near Delville Wood on the Somme on July 30. 1916
Can't find any report on unveiling, possibly because of the start of WW2.
