    Maintenance History
Until 1998 the cross was outside, it was moved inside at Easter 1998 after refurbishment & repair (by Dennis Park of Crosthwaite). Local legend is that it was made of oak from the Parish, however it is widely believed that all Westmorland crosses were made at the same works near Kendal, although there is no actual documentary evidence of that.
