    Maintenance History
By 31 July 2000 (see photo of this date by Patricia Barber) the lettering had been re-cut and the memorial had been cleaned. Photographs taken on 8 October 2015 show that lettering was difficult to read. Further photographs taken on 25 January 2018 show that the WW1 inscriptions are now unreadable and WW2 very difficult.

Reasons for listing from Historic England website: Historic interest: * as an eloquent witness to the tragic impact of world events on the local community, and the sacrifice it made in the conflicts of the C20. Architectural interest: * as a simple yet evocative example of a Latin cross bearing the Sword of Sacrifice. Group value: * with the Church of St Mary (Grade I) and the Erwarton Almshouses (Grade II).
