"Sunday afternoon the parish church at Fowlmere was the scene a short, hearty, simple, yet dignified service, ending with the long-delayed dedication the memorial cross, erected some 12 months ago." "The villagers turned out in large numbers, and took appreciative part in the little ceremony, the whole of which lasted only 35 minutes. The ex-Servicemen numbered 54 and the public feeling is satisfied that at last the right thing has been done."
