    PLAQUE WITH THE INSCRIPTION IN LOWERED-INCISED ROMAN CAPS OF VARIOUS SIZE FILLED IN BLACK, WITH CERTAIN INITIAL LETTERS FILLED IN IN RED. THE INSCRIPTION IS ENCLOSED BY A BLACK FILLED LOWERED-INCISED BORDER 2 CM FROM EACH EDGE OF THE TABLET. WHERE THE LINES OF THE BORDER CROSS CIRCLES ENCOMPASS THE ROUND-HEADED FIXING SCREWS WHICH FORM THE CENTRE POINTS OF QUATREFOILS. ALL OF THESE LINES ARE LOWERED-INCISED AND BLACK FILLED.CENTRALLY ABOVE THE INSCRIPTION IS INCISED THE WINGED INSIGNIA OF AN RFC PILOT, TO THE LEFT OF WHICH IS INCISED THE BADGE OF THE RFC

    THIS TABLET IS/ ERECTED BY THE OFFICERS/ AT/ NORTHOLT AERODROME, IN THIS PARISH/ TO THE MEMORY OF/ 2ND LIEUT. JOHN WINKWORTH BAILEY,/ ROYAL FLYING CORPS,/ WHO WAS KILLED IN AN AEROPLANE ACCIDENT WHILST/ ON DUTY ON THE NIGHT OF MARCH 31ST 1916.
