- Large Indian Light grey granite memorial plinth stone with sloped top. Stone is etched with a facsimile of the hangar and a quotation from Sir Winston Churchill.

- THIS MONUMENT WAS ERECTED TO COMMEMORATE THE PART PLAYED BY THE ROYAL FLYING/ CORPS AND THE ROYAL AIR FORCE SQUADRONS WHO WERE BASED AT BEKESBOURNE/ AERODROME DURING THE AIR DEFENCE OF GREAT BRITAIN 1914-1918 AND 1939-1945/ "HISTORY WITH ITS FLICKERING LAMP STUMBLES ALONG THE TRAIL OF THE PAST TRYING/ TO RECONSTRUCT ITS SCENES, TO REVIVE ITS ECHOES, AND KINDLE WITH PALE GLEAMS/ THE PASSION OF FORMER DAYS."/ WINSTON S.
