    THREE STEPPED BASE SURMOUNTED BY ROUNDED PLINTH WITH COLUMNS AT FOUR POINTS ON THE SIDES. THIS IS SURMOUNTED BY A TAPERED SHAFT AND CELTIC CROSS. CARVED INSCRIPTION IN GOLD PAINTED LETTERING ON THE SIDES OF THE PLINTH.

    6 OCLOCK FACE: TO THE GLORIOUS MEMROY/ OF 165 GALLANT MEN/ OF BARTON-ON-HUMBER/ WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES/ FOR KING AND COUNTRY/ IN THE GREAT WAR/ 4TH AUGUST 1914./ 11TH NOVEMBER 1918./ AND 48 MEN & WOMEN 1939 - 1945./ "THEN FROM THE DAWN IT/ SEEMED THERE CAME, BUT FAINT AS FROM BEYOND THE LIMIT/ OF THE WORLD./ LIKE THE LAST ECHO BORN OF/ A GREAT CRY,/ SOUNDS AS IF SOME FAIR CITY/ WERE ONE VOICE AROUND A KING/ RETURNING FROM HIS WARS."/ TENNYSON OTHER FACES: (NAMES)
