    Description
    Intricately carved lectern with a book rest on two sides, these are supported by a triangular shaped column and support feet. One face of the book rest has the dedication carved in relief, the face of the column beneath this has a carved verse, and this is above the first word of Vincit Amor Patria, the other two words appear on the other two faces. 'Translated as Love of country conquers'. The sides of the reading surfaces on the lectern contain the coat of arms of the Denny family and his regimental badge.

    Book Rest: ✠THIS LECTERN IS DEDICATED TO THE/ GLORY OF GOD AND IN MEMORY OF/ ROBERT EDMUND BARRY DENNY/ 16TH BN CANADIAN SCOTTISH (GORDONS)/ 2ND SON OF EDMUND BARRY DENNY OF/ BARKWITH HOUSE . HE GAVE HIS LIFE/ FOR HIS COUNTRY ON MAY 22ND 1915/ AND WAS BURIED AT BETHUNE IN/ FRANCE AGED 24 YEARS/ Column face 1: FIGHT/ THE/ GOOD/ FIGHT/ PATRIA/ Column face 2: VINCIT/ Column face 3: AMOR
