    • The Essex Newsman reported on Saturday 17/6/1922: 'LITTLE BARDFIELD. War Memorial.—On Sunday morning the tablet to the memory of Little Bardfield men who fell in the war was unveiled by Mrs. Letts and dedicated. The tablet is of marble, and upon It are inscribed the names of the twelve heroes. It is framed in oak, artistically carved and adorned, bearing the Royal Arms above, emblematical flags furled and draped at the sides, and the ancient symbol of Christ, as borne on the standards of the Emperor Constantine, below. Mr. S. Letts, of Little Bardfield Hall, was the designer, assisted by Mr. Heal, successor to the late Mr. Creed. The wood-carving was beautifully done by Messrs. Herbert Shaw and A. Bischoff (an Alsatian by origin), under the supervision of Mr Letts and the manager of the London workshop. The parish is deeply grateful to Mr. Letts and his family for the production of so worthy a memorial'. https://www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/viewer/bl/0000381/19220617/041/0004
