    • Chelmsford Chronicle Friday 4/3/1921 reported: 'On Sunday afternoon the memorial tablet erected in the Parish Church to the memory of Felsted men who fell in the war was unveiled by Brig.-Gen. Wigan, C.M.G., C.B., D.S.O., M.P.— The Vicar, the Rev. E. J. Doherty, conducted the service, and the lesson was read by Lt.-Col. G. J. Hornsby-Wright, D.S.O. After the unveiling, the tablet, was dedicated by the Vicar, and General Wigan, in a brief address, mentioned that over two hundred men from Felsted joined H.M. Forces, and these forty-five gave their lives for their King and country. It was a record of which Felsted might be justly proud. General Wigan impressed upon his hearers that the country had as great a duty to perform in peace as in war, and urged that that memorial would serve to the present and succeeding generations as a reminder, not only of duty nobly done by the men whose names were inscribed on the memorial, but their own duty. The Te Deum was then sung, and after the Benediction, members of the O.T.C, Felsted School, sounded the "Last Post." At the conclusion of the service a number of beautiful floral tributes were laid near the memorial. Before the service, the bells were rung half muffled, and at the conclusion, "Whole Pull and Stand" The memorial is a beautiful plain brass tablet, mounted on polished Purbeck marble. The names are in old English characters, and surmounted by a cross, and inscribed : "To the glory of God, and grateful memory of the men of this parish who gave their lives for us in the Great War, 1914-1918." https://www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/viewer/bl/0000516/19210304/070/0007
