    Year of move

    1980's

    Reason for move

It was originally placed here, south of the village because the mother of one of the casualties (Sec Lt Louis [A H] Dunlop) owned the Loch Ericht Hotel and wanted to see the memorial daily. It was eventually moved to a more central location in the village The original newspaper report describes the original location as "on the high ground a short distance South of Loch Ericht Hotel". This description fits with the concrete base found at NH 63795 83929.
