    Description
A composite memorial comprising a tall, Latin gritstone cross and two gritstone pillars, all arranged at the three corners of a triangular road island. The cross has a tapered shaft and its faces are carved with various bosses and other Celtic-like designs in relief: these include an angel of victory holding a sword beneath a laurel wreath with recumbent deer on the 6 o'clock face and a mythical bird on a nest with four chicks on the 12 o'clock face. The cross surmounts a plain pedestal with a metal plaque recessed into the 6 o'clock face bearing the commemoration and names of the WW1 dead (in two columns) in upright capital Roman lettering. The whole sits on a base which also supports, via a stone backboard, a metal plaque bearing the WW2 commemoration and names of the dead (also in two columns), also in upright capital Roman lettering. Elsewhere on the island, the two, vertical sided, flat topped pillars are mounted on cemented cairns and each bears a round-headed metal plaque on its 6 o'clock and 12 o'clock faces on which the names of those who served in WW1 are listed, again in two columns and in raised upright capital lettering. The whole is surrounded by a chain fence with stone pillars with entrances at the three corners. The entrances in front of the two pillars are marked by metal pillars and the cross faces an entrance in the form of metal lamp post comprising a decorative arch with bronze plaques at the base of each leg.
