    The tablet was "the personal tribute of Mr James S Mackay of Long Eaton and Nottingham, to his co-islesmen who, in the Great Wae, 1914-18, gave their lives for their country". The photograph was "the tribute of Mr Sutherland S Sutherland of Saraquoy, who, by collecting the soldiers' photos, and succeeding in getting the whole reproduced in one magnificent picture, has intensified in no small degreee the effect of the memorial tablet which it was designed to supplement"
