    Description
    Stainless steel pillar in small park overlooking river. Oval shaped base but pointed at each end and retains this shape toward top although pillar also tapers toward top. Terminates slightly lower on front than back, to form point at back. Memorial wording runs vertically down each side of pillar and town name and date at base. The whole stands on small oval shaped base of rough cobbles set in concrete. Small blue painted base stands separate and in front of memorial and has angled top which holds oval shaped silver coloured flat metal plaque containing dedication.

    Left side: WE REMEMBER THE PAST Left side base: DEEPING ST JAMES 2002 Right side: AND WE HAVE HOPE FOR THE FUTURE Associated plaque: JULY 2002/ DEDICATED TO THE PEOPLE OF/ DEEPING ST JAMES AND MARKET DEEPING/ WHO PARTICIPATED IN ANY WAY IN THE CONFLICTS OF THE 20TH CENTURY/ AT HOME AND OVERSEAS AND REMEMBERING ESPECIALLY THOSE/ WHOSE LIVES WERE LOST AS A RESULT/ MEMORIAL INSCRIPTION BY COUNCILLOR REG HOWARD
