Memorial Details

Type of Memorial: Stone of remembrance
WMR Reference Number: 63244
Description: A tapering plinth forming a stone of remembrance, made of black polished granite. There is a commemorative inscription. The front face of the plinth bears a further short commemoration above the emblem of the Battlefields Trust. The plinth is fixed to a base of the same black stone and set within a square area bordered by low metal railing. There is an Information Board with text and images to the side.
Inscription: Top of plinth: THE FIRST/ V-2 ROCKET/ ON LONDON/ FELL HERE/ 8 SEPTEMBER 1944/ KILLING THREE. 6 o'clock face: IN MEMORY OF ALL/ V-2 ATTACK VICTIMS./ THE BATTLEFIELDS TRUST/ BRENTFORD & CHISWICK/ LOCAL HISTORY SOCIETY. Adjacent Information Board gives details of damage and casualties of V2 attack of 8.9.1944 (supplied by Brentford and Chiswick Local History Society).
