    Description
    A white marble tablet on a marble backboard. The upright oblong tablet has a raised border with stepped sides bearing a motif repeated on the inner chamfer and on the outer surfaces of the steps. At the head of the tablet is the badge of the Derbyshire Yeomanry in relief and at the foot is a crossed rifle and sword in relief. At the centre is a laurel wreath in relief with a domed panel in the centre bearing the incised inscription in upright capital roman lettering coloured black. Below the wreath the ribbons surround a further badge in relief comprising a crown and crossed swords above a two-headed eagle and a roundel bearing a cross. The oblong backboard is of green and black veined marble.

COL./ WILLIAM DICKSON WINTERBOTTOM/ OF ASTON HALL, DERBY,/ KILLED IN ACTION/ ON THE SALONIKA FRONT, AUG 9 1917,/ AGED 27 YEARS./ THIS TABLET IS DEDICATED/ BY HIS FATHER, WIFE/ AND STEP MOTHER./ HIS LAST WORDS WERE/ "I HAVE TRIED TO DO MY BEST,/ GOD'S WILL BE/ DONE."
