    Description
Three-step base surmounted by plinth with soldier in service cap, with head bowed and rifle reversed. At base of plinth on the 12 o'clock face a sculpted trophy with a gun and an empty scabbard crossed within a laurel wreath with ribbons; on the 6 o'clock face a sculpted trophy with a laurel wreath with ribbons resting on an anchor flanked by a chart, rope and telescope. WW1 names inscribed in black lettering on the 3, 6 and 9 o'clock faces of plinth, with WW2 names on bronze plaques at base of plinth on the same faces. A bronze plaque on top step on the 12 o'clock face bears the name of a soldier lost in Afghanistan. Memorial stands on elevated platform reached by 14 steps flanked by rusticated Portland stone pilasters that frame tablets bearing the dates of the two World Wars - 1914 / 1919 and 1939 / 1945 - and surmounted by Portland stone balustrading with moulded balusters, caps and coping. Area surrounding the monument paved with blue Forest of Dean stone and enclosed on three sides by a rock-faced masonry retaining wall with blue Forest of Dean moulded coping.
