Memorial Details

Type of Memorial: Gate
WMR Reference Number: 6619
Description: Two large, curved walls of white marble with centrally placed gates. Stone tablets inset at the ends of the walls display the dates of the First and Second World Wars. Each wall bears 3 bronze plaques of World War 1 names; the names are organized in three columns on each plaque. An identical dedicatory inscription appears at the head of the central column of the central plaque on each wall. Above the central plaque on each wall, another bronze plaque carries a one-line memorial inscription. On the front face of each gatepost are bronze plaques commemorating those lost in World War 2; an identical commemorative inscription appears at the top of the main plaque on each gatepost. The central gates are elaborate black iron with gilded scrollwork at top. To either side are narrower pedestrian gates of similar design.
