Maintenance History: Following the award of grant funding by the War Memorials Trust and Cadw’s Grants for War Memorials Scheme, Llanddewi Brefi Community Council commissioned restoration and repair of the War Memorial by Elliott Ryder Conservation in 2018, conserving the monument, plinth and surrounding obelisks. The work included removal of the algae and lichens by low pressure, high temperature steam cleaning, removal of silicone mastic and replacement with lime based mortar to keep out excess moisture from the core of the monument. Damaged lettering to the polished granite pedestal was cleaned and re-gilded.
