Type of Memorial: Cenotaph

Description: Three stepped base surmounted with a plinth and cenotaph. Enclosed by a fence. Bronze plaques on the 12 o’clock face have the names of the fallen from WW1, WW2 and later conflicts in Cyprus, Northern Ireland and Afghanistan. At the top of the 12 and 6 o’clock faces, a bronze roundel depicting the leaning south-east tower of Caerphilly Castle is encircled within a wreath and garlanded. On the 3 and 9 o’clock faces, a pair of long lances support a banner bearing the words ‘BETTER DEATH THAN DISHONOUR’, all executed in bronze.
