  • Western Mail - Monday 13 November 1922 https://www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/viewer/bl/0000104/19221113/151/0009 CARNARVON DISAPPOINTED. EX-PREMIER COMPELLED TO CANCEL AN ENGAGEMENT. Mr. Lloyd George was on Sunday to have unveiled at Carnarvon a memorial to over 200 men who died in war service, but was forbidden by his medical adviser to attend, and spent the day quietly resting at Criccieth. His absence caused the keenest disappointment to many thousands of people who had congregated in the Castle Square, under the shadow of the historic castle, to witness the unveiling ceremony, which. under the circumstances, was performed by the Mayor. Amongst the hundreds of beautiful wreaths deposited at the foot of the monument was one by Dame Margaret Lloyd George, on behalf of the ex-Premier.
