Inscription: TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND IN LOVING MEMORY OF/ CAPTAIN CHARLES OWEN SLACKE,/ 14TH BATT. ROYAL IRISH RIFELS, ULSTER DIVISION, ELDEST SON OF THE LATE SIR OWEN RANDAL SLACKE C.B./ WHO WAS KILLED AFTER LEADING HIS COMPANY INTO ACTION/ AT THIEPVAL, FRANCE, 1ST JULY 1916, AGED 44./ "I have fought a good fight". 2TIM.IV-7/ THIS TABLET IS PLACED HERE BY HIS WIDOW, KATE SLACKE.
