Description: Memorial garden featuring the head end of a torpedo which doubles up as a donation box. Dedicatory display board set on the wall at the west end of the garden.
Inscription: Dedicatory board: Welcome to Port Bannatyne/V Day 60th Anniversary Celebration/This garden is dedicated to the brave men of the Midget Submarines/[very faded picture, apparently of the Kyles Hotel]/Between 1942-1945 the Kyles Hydropathic Hotel was requisitioned as/HMS Varbel, and used as Headquarters for the 12th Submarine Flotilla/(X-Craft Midget Submarines)/They operated in Norway, Italy and the Far East/Between them they won 4 Victoria Cross Medals, 65 Prestigious medals and/were mentioned in dispatches more than 100 times./For more information go to www.errol19@ntl.world.com. /This garden was part funded by Heritage Lottery Fund
