Description: Latin cross set on a plinth and stepped base. The names and inscription are on the faces of the plinth. (Those listed on the memorial are former parishioners of Spinkhill's Roman Catholic Church of Immaculate Conception, which was formerly known as Mount St Mary's Church. Many of these casualties were also named on other memorials in their home village/hamlet).

Belper News 8/10/1920 reported: "SPINKHILL WAR MEMORIAL UNVEILED. There were large congregations present in Mount St. Mary’s Church, Spinkhill, last week, when the Feast of Dedication and Consecration was held. Solemn High Mass was celebrated, and in the afternoon the unveiling of the stone war memorial, which is placed in the churchyard, took place. Previous to the ceremony a short organ recital was given by Mr T. Morrison, A.R.C.L., and Madame Walsh sang two solos, Divine Redeemer” and know that my Redeemer liveth.” After the recital a procession was formed, consisting of about 100 school children, all dressed in white, each of which carried a bunch of flowers, which were placed at the foot of the memorial stone. The unveiling ceremony was performed by the Rector, the Rev. Father Collingwood, S.J., who remarked that they had met together that day to do honour to those who had laid down their lives for them. He hoped that every one of them who passed that stone would remember them in their prayers. A number of cadets from Mount St. Mary’s College stood with reversed arms and the buglers sounded the "Last Post.” The stone contains all the names of those who were connected with the above Church. The inscription bears the following:— “Pray for the souls of the following, who laid down their lives for their King and country in the Great War, 19141919. Pte. C. S. Pearson, Prince of Wales Regiment ; Pte. E. Allcock, K.0.Y.L.1.; Corpl. J. H. Marlow, K.0.Y.L.1.; Pte. R. Leverton, K.0.Y.L.1.; Pte. J. Cunniffe, York and Lancs.; Pte. T. Farrell, Notts, and Derbys.; Pte. J. Bennett, Notts, and Derbys.; Pte. J. Wilbourne, Northumberland Fusiliers; Lance-Corpl. Widdowson, R.G.A.; Corpl. G. Burrows, R.G.A.; Pte. R.
