    Cross of sacrifice with curved wall behind bearing nine name panels City arms on pediment. Lions on railing pillars. Wreath on pillar at each end of wall.

    WITH THOSE WHO DIED IN THE CONFLICT OF 1914-1918 ARE HERE COMMEMORATED THE MEN AND WOMEN OF BATH SERVING IN HIS MAJESTY'S FORCES, CIVIL DEFENCE AND SPECIAL CONSTABULARY WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR FREEDOM IN THE SECOND WORLD WAR 1939-1945. THE NAMES OF OUR CITY'S GALLANT DEAD WHO MADE THE SUPREME SACRIFICE IN THE WORLD WAR 1939-1945 TOGETHER WITH THOSE CIVILIANS KILLED BY ENEMY ACTION ARE RECORDED IN BOOKS OF REMEMBRANCE AT BATH ABBEY CHURCH AND THE CHURCH OF ST JOHN THE EVANGELIST, SOUTH PARADE. Plaque: THE NAMES OF OUR CITY'S GALLANT DEAD/ WHO, WHILE SERVING IN THE ARMED FORCES/ OF THE CROWN/, MADE THE SUPREME SACRIFICE SINCE 1945/ (Names) Plaque below wreath on pillar at end of wall: The two lead planters are in memory of/ Henry John "Harry" Patch/ 17 June 1898 - 25 July 2009/ A son of Bath and "The Last Fighting Tommy" of World War I/ and a Bath Fire-fighter during World War II/ Purchased by public subscription and donations from:/ BLM.     FWW NAME PLATES WERE TRANSFERRED FROM THE ROYAL MINERAL WATER HOSPITAL IN 1927. SWW NAME PLATES WERE ADDED IN 1995. Post-WW2 names added to memorial on separate plaque. 2010, September: Two lead planters were dedicated in memory of Harry Patch.
