Description: White marble tablet with pointed top on black marble pattress of the same shape. At centre top is an anchor badge. The lettering is incised and black, using sans serifs capitals throughout, with the quotation in italics.
Inscription: TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND/ IN LOVING MEMORY OF/ ADAM SHELL R.N.R./ WHO LOST HIS LIFE IN THE/ SINKING OF H.M.S. AMEER/ 18TH MARCH 1916,/ AGED 34 YEARS./ "GREATER LOVE HATH NO MAN THAN THIS/ THAT A MAN LAY DOWN HIS LIFE FOR HIS/ FRIENDS."/ THIS TABLET IS ERECTED BY HIS WIDOW.
