Description: Rectangular manuscript on paper within a black wooden glass fronted frame with a brass insert . At top the first part of the commemoration, a cross coloured gold and a furled Union Flag and White Ensign in natural colours . The names written in black , the unit in red and the arm of service in blue . Below the names of those who returned a palm leaf in gold then the names of those who died followed by the remainder of the commemoration in black and red .Professionally produced by a firm of calligraphers in Oxford and London - name illegible
Inscription: The Great War/1914 - 1919/The following men from the/ PARISH OF CHIDEOCK/Served with His Majesty's Forces by Sea, Land or Air/ROYAL NAVY /(names)/ROYAL AIR FORCE/(names)/HIS MAJESTY'S ARMY /(names)/The Following laid down their lives in the Service of Their Country/Grant them O Lord Eternal Rest and let the light perpetual shine upon them/(names)/O Almighty God who art a strong tower of defence unto Thy servants against the face of their enemies /We yield Thee praise and thanksgiving for our deliverance from those great and apparent dangers/wherewith we were compassed we acknowledge it Thy Goodness that we were not delivered over as a prey/unto them :beseeching Thee still to continue such Thy mercies towards us that all the world may know/that Thou art our Saviour and mighty Deliverer ;through Jesus Christ Our Lord Amen ./
