SIR JAMES WARRACK'S MESSAGE. An impressive ceremony marked the unveiling of the Montrose Academy War Memorial on Saturday afternoon. The memorial, which takes the form of a bronze tablet. bearing the names of the fallen, and surmounted by the Scottish Lion Rampant and a thistle design, has been fitted into the frontage of the Academy building, and is protected by a wrought-iron grille. The names recorded on the tablet are 72 in number. Flags were flown at the Academy and Townhouse in keeping with the occasion. The unveiling ceremony was timed for 2.30 p.m., and the open space in front of the Academy was densely packed, not only with the marshalled pupils of the Academy under their teachers, but with parents and relatives of the fallen and townspeople generally. The Chairman of the local School Management Committee. Mr Geo. A. Middleton, presided. and the platform party included other members of the Forfarshire Education Authority, Montrose Educational Trust, Provost Foreman and Hon. Treasurer Johnston, representing the Town Council ; Mr John Burnett, Aberdeen, a former Rector of the Academy, with Mrs Burnett ; and Rector Yorston and senior members of the Academy staff. The unveiling ceremony was performed by Sir James Warrack, Edinburgh, a distinguished son of Montrose and old Academy boy. ………
