Description: Latin Portland Stone Cross with square stone decoration on a tapered shaft below which is a four sided plinth on three-stepped octagonal base. On each face of the plinth is a bronze, rectangular plaque with decorative wreath on top centre. Bronze relief of soldier and sailor with arms reversed, beneath crossed flags, on panel on front face. Four gilded winged allegorical figures representing Honour, Justice, Fortitude and Victory at top four corners of plinth. On each three other principal sides of plinth are rectangular bronze plaques with centered Laurel wreath in relief.
Inscription: 6 o'clock face: IN MEMORY OF / MORTIMER / MEN / WHO FELL / IN THE / GREAT WAR / 1914-1918 / Under plaque is smaller rectangular plaque with "1939 - 1945 / THESE DIED FOR THEIR COUNTRY / BUT LIVE IN THEIR COUNTRY'S / GRATITUDE 9 o'clock face: (NAMES) 12 o'clock face: (NAMES) ERECTED BY PARISHIONERS OF / MORTIMER / 1921. 3 o'clock face: (NAMES)
