    Description
    Two-stepped square base surmounted by a square sectioned plinth and a stout, square sectioned tapering obelisk with a clock on two faces. Hands of clock are made of bayonets, machine-gun ammunition marks the minutes and the Roman numerals are rifle ammunition. Incised inscriptions are on slate tablets, inset into the four sides of the plinth. Shell cases rest on saddle stones surrounding the memorial, and the chain linking the stones belonged to a battleship which fought at the Battle of Jutland Clocks at 6 and 12 o'clock faces of obelisk ; 3 o'clock face : Relief of George V ; 9 o'clock face : Man on horseback, incised 1914 - 1918 A WW2 angled stone incised tablet is located on the upper step face, adjacent to the base of the plinth. The whole memorial is sited within a gravelled area enclosed by a low post and chain fence, further surrounded by a perimeter garden.

    6 o'clock (south) plinth face : TO THE NOBLE DEAD / (17 NAMES) / PASS NOT THIS STONE IN SORROW, BUT IN PRIDE. / AND MAY YOU LIVE AS NOBLY AS THEY DIED. // 9 o'clock (west) plinth face : ERECTED / TO COMMEMORATE / THE / GREAT WAR / AUGUST 1914 TO NOVEMBER 1919. // 12 o'clock (north) plinth face : THESE ALSO SERVED / (NAMES) / THE MEN WERE VERY GOOD TO US, AND WE WERE / NOT HURT THEY WERE A WALL UNTO US BOTH BY / NIGHT AND DAY. 1.Sam. XXV 15-16. // 6 o'clock upper step : These gave their lives / 1939 -1945 / (2 NAMES) //
