    Dark grey marble stone on a plinth of local Ancaster stone depicting at top a Vickers Wellington twin engined bomber approaching head on and slightly nose down. Badges of the RAAF and RCAF are engraved bottom left and right.

    IN MEMORY OF/ PILOT OFFICER HENRY ERIC 'HARRY' RATH R.C.A.F./ AND/ SERGEANT KARL MORRIS MIEGEL R.A.A.F./ WHO DIED WHEN THEIR VICKERS WELLINGTON (T2834)/ CRASHED NEAR HERE IN THE EARLY HOURS OF/ MONDAY 20th APRIL 1942/ MY ROSE/ The most perfect rose that I ever knew,/ Began from a seed and gradually grew.../ That rose is the love that blossomed in me,/ For someone who died that we may be free/ How treasured they are/ Precious memories like those,/ A priceless gift, my perfect rose./ Lillian Brindley
