Description: Slate tablet, which has the Dyfed Powys Police crest top-centre, and incised white lettering. The upper half of the tablet has the inscription, in both Welsh and English; the lower half records the names of sixteen former police officers from Dyfed Powys Police's historic Forces who died in World War 1, grouped by the name of the Force for which they had formerly worked (i.e. Breconshire, Carmarthenshire, Montgomeryshire, Cardiganshire, Radnorshire and Pembrokeshire), followed by the affirmation "We Will Remember Them" in both Welsh and English.
Inscription: (The Welsh inscription on the upper left side reads): ER COF AM HEDDWEISION O'R/ HEDDLUOEDD A FU GYNT YN/ ARDAL HEDDLU DYFED-POWYS/ A RODDODD EU BYWYDAU YN/ Y RHYFEL MAWR 1914 - 1918. (The English inscription on the upper right side reads): DEDICATED TO THE MEMORY OF/ OFFICERS FROM THE CONSTITUENT/ FORCES OF DYFED-POWYS/ WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN/ THE GREAT WAR 1914 - 1918. (The central section beneath lists the casualties' names, under six headings): Sir Frycheiniog - Breconshire, Sir Gaerfyrddin - Carmarthenshire, Sir Drefaldwyn - Montgomeryshire/ Sir Aberteifi - Cardiganshire, Sir Faesyfed - Radnorshire, Sir Benfro - Pembrokeshire) (The final line reads): NI A'U COFIWN HWY. West Wales War Memorial Project: Dyfed Powys Police War Memorial ( https://www.wwwmp.co.uk/carmarthenshire-memorials/dyfed-powys-police-war-memorial/ ) explains how and why the memorial was created in 2014: "Dyfed Powys Police force was formed in 1968 with the merger of the County Constabularies of Carmarthen, Pembroke, Cardigan, Brecon, Radnor and Montgomery. A large number of policemen from the old county police forces served in the armed forces during the Great War, sixteen of whom lost their lives. These men were originally commemorated on war memorials in their respective counties, but during 2014 Dyfed Powys Police decided to commemorate all of its former men on a new war memorial which was unveiled in the Police HQ at Llangunnor and the new memorial, which had been research by Kevin Smith along with some assistance from this website, was unveiled on Friday 28 November 2014".
