The Laurieston Westquarter Silver Band opened the service by playing the hymns, ‘‘Lead, Kindly Light,” and “How bright these glorious spirits shine,’’ to the tunes “Sandon” and ‘‘St Asaph” respectively. Band-Sergeant Leishman then laid a wreath at the foot of the memorial. This was followed by a short dedicatory prayer by the Rev. J. H. Ross. The band thereafter played Holy,” and the service closed with the singing of Nearer, God. to Thee.” to the tune ‘‘Bethany.”
