    Maintenance History
The original structure that was erected in 1921 had one plinth, on which the column actually still sits. After World War 2, segments of stone were added to the top of the plinth to form a collar around the column, giving the appearance of an upper tier, on which the World War 2 casualties are commemorated. The World War 2 inscription is therefore above that relating to World War 1. 1921: In order to make the War Memorial visible from the road, when it was erected a portion of the churchyard wall was removed and replaced with an iron fence.
