Description: A gated fenced garden with benches. In the middle there is a rectangular granite stone with a plaque on the side facing the road. The stone stands on two square steps all mounted on a square base. The top of the lower step has a compass ring set into it, surrounding the upper step. There is also a separate plaque mounted in front of the stone memorial mentioning the inception of the memorial.
Inscription: plaque on stone - THIS MONUMENT WAS ERECTED TO / COMMEMORATE THE PART PLAYED / BY THE ROYAL AIR FORCE STATION / HAWKINGE IN THE AIR DEFENCE OF / GREAT BRITAIN 1915 -1961 AND TO / PROVIDE A MEMORIAL TO ALL WHO / SERVED AT OR FLEW FROM THIS / GREEN SWATH NEVER TO RETURN // 'HISTORY WITH HIS FLICKERING LAMP / STUMBLES ALONG THE TRAIL OF THE PAST / TRYING TO RECONSTRUCT ITS SCENES / TO REVIVE ITS ECHOES AND KINDLE WITH / PALE GLEAMS THE PASSION OF FORMER DAYS' // WINSTON S CHURCHILL 1940 plaque mounted in front of memorial - THE RAF HAWKINGE MEMORIAL/ was erected due to the vision of/ ROY HUMPHREYS/ to honour/ the Men and Women/ who served at RAF Hawkinge./ Presented by Members/ of/ The Kent Aviation Historical Society/ 2015
