Description: An octagonal obelisk constructed from granite blocks on a rectangular two stepped base surmounted by a bust of the Duke of Wellington. There is an inscribed inset panel on Face 1 of the base, and on Face 3 half way up the obelisk there are two incised characters. The obelisk sits in a field adjacent to the Waterloo Wood.
Inscription: Face 1: WATERLOO WOOD/ RAISED FROM ACORNS, SOWN/ IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE MEMORABLE/ BATTLE OF WATERLOO, WHERE VICTORY/ WAS ACHIEVED BY THAT GREAT/ CAPTAIN OF THE AGE, HIS GRACE THE/ DUKE OF WELLINGTON. COMMANDING/ THE BRITISH FORCES. AGAINST THE/ FRENCH ARMS. COMMANDED BY/ NAPOLEAN BONAPARTE.
