WMR Reference Number: 91302
Description: An off white stone plain latin cross on a three stepped base with a low relief anchor incised at the crossing point . The main commemoration shows this is the burial of a WW1 casualty . the additional commemoration is incised on the front face of the lowest step .
Inscription: In Ever/Loving Memory of/PTE GEORGE NEWMAN/1ST DORSET REGIMENT/WHO PASSED AWAY FEB 19TH 1919/AGED 31 YEARS /Also of JOHN JAMES /WHO WENT DOWN WITH H.M.S.VICKNOR AGED 23 YEARS /(note the name of the vessel is misspelt its correct name is HMS Viknor) Note George is buried here.
