- An obtuse-arched sandstone headstone with granite column pilasters, and with a dove carrying a rose in its beak carved at the top. The inscription is incised.

- .../ Also Gunner Thomas Sharples/ Royal Field Artillery/ Son of the above,/ Who was Killed in France/ Aug. 8th 1916, Aged 22 years./ No loved one stood beside him/ To bid him a last farewell,/ No word of comfort could he have/ From those he loved so well,/ Too far away thy grave to see,/ But not too far to remember thee./ ....
