    HMS Hood crest, mounted on a wooden backboard, erected in memory of the 1415 men who lost their lives when the ship was sunk.
    Inscription
    H.M.S. HOOD/ This plaque is in memory of the 1,415 men who lost/ their lives on 24th May 1941. H.M.S. Hood was sunk/ when she engaged with the German Battleship,/ Bismarck, in the Denmark Strait with only three/ survivors./ Commissioned in 1920, HMS Hood was named after/ Samuel Hood, 1st Viscount Hood, whose younger/ brother, Alexander Hood, 1st Viscount Bridport, lived/ at Cricket Saint Thomas.
