Married 1882 ( 0ctober- December) Grantham nee Julia Longland Census 1891 - Leonard age 2 years , Father 36 wheelwright ,living 65 Haydor Census 1901 - Leonard 12, Father Thomas 46 wheelwright, living 23, Street, Grantham. Census 1911 - No mention of Leonard, Father 65 wheelwright living 9, Alfred St., Grantham. Roy Stedman
    • Yet another name to be added to the list of Grantham soldiers killed fighting for King and country. Lance Corpl. Leonard Read, son of Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Rear, of Alford Street, Grantham. Killed in action March 12th. Attained the age of 26 on the 21st ult., had been a soldier from his early days, being attached to the 1st Bn. Sherwood Foresters and had seen service in India for a number of years. He would have accompanied his regiment to the front but for an injury received in the leg which necessitated his removal to Netley Hospital. After his discharge from that institution, he was sent home for a month to recuperate, and by doctors orders his stay was prolonged for another month. He rejoined his regiment on the 3rd February, Grantham Journal, Aril 3, 1915. and (Obits)
