From the St. Nicholas & St. Faith Parish Magazine of May 1919:- "Memorial to the Fallen." "At a meeting on April 28th, the proposal of the Mayor and Corporation that the Memorial for those from the Borough of Saltash who have fallen in the Great war should take the form of a large Celtic Cross to be placed in the ground near the Parish Church, known as the Chaplains Garden, was heartily approved. The Bishop as patron of the Benefice, and the Vicar of SS. Nicholas and Faith, readily agreed to the use of the ground for this purpose. The Memorial will bear the names of those who have fallen, and will be made accessible. It will be a sacred reminder to all of those who made the Great Sacrifice, and a call to keep alive the spirit which animated our fallen heroes." From the St. Nicholas & St. Faith Parish Magazine of June 1919:- "Saltash War Memorial" "All will desire to make a grateful contribution towards the cost of this Memorial. Sums large or small should be sent to the Mayor without delay." From the St. Nicholas & St. Faith Parish Magazine of March 1921:- "Saltash War Memorial" "The Memorial to those of our Borough who fell in the Great War was unveiled on February 6th (Quinquagesima Sunday), as a silent and dignified reminder of their sacrifice and our sure hope. Please God this Cross will be a source of inspiration to countless souls, moving them to a deeper devotion to Him who gave Himself to us all, and impart to each one power to follow Him in a life of service."
