    • Royal Garrison Church - Major General Henry William Adams, C.B. https://www.memorialsinportsmouth.co.uk/churches/royal_garrison/adams-hw.htm
    • Coventry Herald - Friday 15 May 1857 Page 4 Monument to the late Major-general Adams.- We understand that a small but very graceful spire has been erected course of the last year in the parish of Ansty, Warwickshire, to the memory of late Major-General Henry William Adams, C.B., by his widow. It appears that the village Church was without tower or spire, and perhaps a better memorial could hardly have been found for the General than ine which inseparably connects his name with that sacred building in which he had loved to worship, and which is now the guardian-house of his mortal remains. This elegant structure, designed by G. Gilbert Scott, Esq., and ably carried out by Messrs. Robinson, of Coventry, stands at the West end of the nave, and is in the Early Perpendicular style. Over the entrance, within a richly decorated niche, stands the figure of a Knight in Armour; and on the summits of the buttresses, on either side of the porch, are figures representing Fortitude and Prudence, qualities essential to the character of a Christian warrior. Within the porch over the entrance door of the Church, is the following inscription carved in stone "This spire is erected to the Glory of God, and in Memory of Major-General Henry William Adams, of Ansty Hall, Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath; who died at Scutari 19th of December, 1854, of wounds received in the battle at Inkerman. Aged years. 'Though He slay me yet will I trust in Him.' - Job xiii., 15." - Naval and Military Gazette.
